Comparison
Money Lover alternative for travellers and digital nomads
Money Lover and Nomad Budget side by side: a money manager with a Travel Mode, and an expense tracker built around the countries you live in.
Money Lover is a long-standing money manager on iPhone and Android, with budgets, bill reminders, debts and support for many currencies. For trips it has Events and a Travel Mode: switch it on, and every entry you add is tied to that trip.
Nomad Budget starts from the other end: instead of tagging a trip onto your everyday finances, every country you stay in has its own wallet. Here is how the two compare.
Which one is for you
Choose Money Lover if…
Money Lover suits you if you want one app for your whole financial life — bills, debts, savings — and occasionally a trip on top of it.
Choose Nomad Budget if…
Nomad Budget suits you if travel is your everyday life: a wallet per country in its own currency, the rate of each day kept, one total, and a globe of where your money went.

The quickest way to judge is with your own spending: Nomad Budget is free on iPhone, and works without an account.
Where Money Lover is stronger
- A wider view of personal finance: bill reminders, debts and savings goals.
- Bank links in several Southeast Asian countries.
- Android as well as iPhone, and a Home Screen widget.
- Premium can be bought once instead of as a subscription.
What Nomad Budget does differently
- Countries instead of events: each country has its own wallet in its own currency, so nothing needs switching on when you arrive.
- Every entry keeps the exchange rate of its own day.
- Unlimited wallets and currencies in the free version, and no ads.
- A 3D globe of your route and of what each country cost you.
- The cost of your own way of living in another country, from official price levels.
Moving from Money Lover
Export your transactions from Money Lover, then import the file in Nomad Budget (Settings → Import). Nomad Budget knows the layout of Money Lover’s export, including the way it writes decimal commas, and was tested on a real export of several thousand entries. You see a summary before anything is saved, and an import can be undone for seven days.
